Joe Stephenson is an award winning film and television director whose work spans narrative features, documentary and television. His films Chicken, McKellen: Playing the Part, Doctor Jekyll and Midas Man have been accepted into international festivals including SXSW, Edinburgh, Rome, Busan and Tallinn Black Nights, with Chicken later entering the AQA Media Studies curriculum.
Alongside his feature work, Joe has directed primetime television for Channel 4, created and directed projects for Sky Arts, Channel 5, Amazon Studios and Sony Music UK, and was commissioned by Tate Britain for its landmark Queer British Art exhibition. His work is driven by bold, performance-led storytelling and a fascination with identity, outsiders and the tension between our public and private selves.
